90 minutes away from San Antonio, Austin makes a great day trip, especially on Saturdays when GWNN hosts an event. Ambrosio no longer lives in Austin so some of these listings might no longer be accurate (especially the night clubs.) Please suggest any links you would like to see included.
Austin Groups
- Austin Crack Addicts: The group will work together to hone whip skills using both bullwhips and signal whips. It will meet once a month on a Saturday night for socializing, sharing techniques and doing demos. Demos will range from sensuous to hard scenes using both signal whips and bullwhips (weather permitting for the bullwhips). Anyone interested in joining must write Allan at and ask for an invite. - Austin Dominants Discussion has begun once again meeting one Friday evening (from 6:00 to 10:00 pm) toward the end of every month. They plan to meet on the last Friday of every month, but this schedule will vary a little to accommodate holidays and other lifestyle community events. Meetings start with a social period at from 6:00 to 7:00 or 7:30 followed by a round table discussion on a specific topic. - Austin ROPE (Ropelovers Organization for Practitioners and Enthusiasts) is a hands-on affair for adult rope bondage enthusiasts of all levels of experience, and we hope to provide a space for leatherfolk of all sexual orientations to learn and exchange ideas for rope art and play. - Austin-subCulture is a support group in Austin for subs and switches. They get together once a month to have a topic discussion, enjoy each others company, raise money for charity and offer a BDSM related demo every even month. On odd months AsC meets in a public place (usually La Mad) on the forth THURSDAY, and on even months they meet in a member's home on the forth Friday. All members of SAADE (formerly ADDG) are welcome and encouraged to attend the demos. The discussions are closed to Doms.

It's held from 7:00 - 9:30 P.M. on the third Friday of every month at the Central Market on Lamar (between 35th and 45th). If the weather's nice outside they'll be out on the patio, but if it's nasty they'll meet upstairs.
- Bound By Desire is the oldest BD/SM club in Texas for women only. They write "We are NOT politically correct. We support everyone's right to a safe, sane and consensual lifestyle." They hold socials every 3rd Saturday of the month from 2 - 4 at the Flight Path in Austin Texas. All interested women are invited to attend to meet other leather women and get acquainted with our club. Their meetings and parties are held every other month. April, June, August, and December. They sponsor The HUNT -- their annual country run -- in October in the beautiful Texas hill country. Women do not have to be a member to attend the Hunt.

- The Next Generation started out strictly as a mailing list but has now developed into a social group that meets in real time. TNG is a safe venue for newcomers and experienced from the age of 18 to 35 to come and learn about the BDSM community with others within the same age group. This group is moderated in order to preserve the TNG nature of the list. NO TROLLING or FLAMING will be tolerated. "This is a source of information for new or existing members to the BDSM community. Group members should be between the ages of 18-30 but older newcomers to the BDSM community will be allowed to join. In addition to it's regular meetings and classes, SAADE sponsors special interest groups and programs for it's members:- Austin Mentors - The Austin Mentors is a year-long training program designed to teach basic skills to new dominants coming into the lifestyle. It begins January of each year.
- DM Certificate Program: SAADE, SAS/M and in cunjunction with other BDSM offer a consolidated DM training program that includes certification in CPR and first aid. Group members who complete this program will be certified to DM at any of the participating groups' parties. Johnan writes that "this will increase the safety level for members, and give those DM volunteers something tangible for their efforts."
- D/s Mediation Team - A mediation team designed to deal both with problems between individuals and with larger-scale problems that sometimes arise and divide our community.
- SAADE Outreach - SAADE has a formal mechanism estabished for creating "recriprocal agreements" with other clubs throughout the nation.

Group members will be available to counsel submissives when there is a concern for the welfare and safety, emotional as well as physical, of the submissive. Council members may also act as advocates for a submissive if there is ever an issue with a dominant or other persons acting in a way that frightens or worries the submissive. It will be the goal of this advocacy council to provide area submissives an avenue to find advice and support from people they can confide in and trust. Council members may have affiliations with and memberships in other area groups, but the council will have affiliations with no other groups. The council will not be sponsored by any other group and it will not answer to any other group. At this time the council is accepting applications from area submissives interested in being a part of the council. Members should be active in at least one area group, be willing to devote the time necessary if called on to help someone, and be willing to have their names and emails listed on the Council web page. This council is in no way going to try and mentor any submissives, and it is not the Council's intention to replace any mentoring relationship. A council member who feels that a sub is really in need of mentoring rather than an advocate will put that submissive in contact with the mentoring groups in the area.
